[026]Resonanz Parkhaus Dreispitz

Two architects, one architect and one artist – Marcel Arndt, Tim Berresheim, Wiebke Schlüter, and Wolfgang Zeh – propose a sound installation for the RESERVOIR competition hosted by Basel Architecture Week 2024. In this installation, the former car park →Parkhaus Dreispitz becomes an echo chamber of ideas, listening to the former retention basins and their visitors, recording and amplifying these encounters acoustically. The sensitive approach to the building and the theme of transformation through sound evoke a sensual experience for the visitors.

In addition to the visitors, various environmental factors such as temperature and humidity, and their fluctuations, will control the soundscape, giving the building an acoustic voice. The jury of the Open Call stated:

"The concept of using the entire building as a resonance chamber is compelling. By encouraging visitors and everyday users to interact with the soundscapes in the various basins of the building, the project provides the concrete masses of the reservoir with a novel sensory experience and transforms it into an echo chamber for ideas."
